Slice of Heaven

A watercolor painted plein air at my favorite pond, a Chattanooga wetland, which has provided many a subject for me to paint. This was the first I painted at this location this year. The natural beauty is framed in lush shades of green and ever moving light reflecting off the water and the sunlight or shade is ever changing and a constant challenge I love to engage.

I have found my plein air watercolor paintings on paper to be an amazing source for making other paintings. The medium of acrylics give me the opportunity to paint the same subject on canvas with a hole different look and feel. Sometimes I will incorporate mixed media to the composition and give it a contemporary feel. Experimenting and growing with every painting is a joy to me.
